Frequently Asked Questions: DaDesktop for Training
1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (since Excel functionality is needed)
- No, we do not include MS Office within DD (whether Win10 or Win11 Pro). What you get is a DD virtual machine and a training room.
- The trainer(s) should set up a free-trial MS Office account for all participants.
- Otherwise, they can simply use their own MS Office account.
2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Yes, we've created a simple way to upload files from your local machine to the DD desktop. The only minor downside is that, for now, you can only transfer one file at a time. But it's straightforward to bundle all the files you need into a ZIP or archive, then copy that across to your DaDesktop machine without hassle.
- If you're using any cloud storage, make sure you log out from that service before cloning to all delegates.
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you're on Chrome, head to "chrome://settings/system" and turn off the 'Hardware acceleration' option.
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, as stated in the Terms and Conditions on https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, trainers are not permitted access to the wiki.
- If you need to submit content for editing on the NobleProg wiki, simply copy and paste it into an email to the trainer (a PDF is also fine).
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?
Yes! Make sure to whitelist any domains that match this pattern:
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
For any other questions, reach out to DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?
- The trainer(s) can begin by setting up and choosing the DD configuration (RAM, CPUs, and disk).
- Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to create multiple virtual machines and configure networking between them.
- Once the setup is complete, you can clone the environment to delegates in seconds.
- Feel free to contact DaDesktop Support if you need assistance.
7. What is the server capacity?
- It depends on the server hardware.
- For instance, 512GB of RAM can be utilized as 512GB multiplied by 3.
- Each server has a maximum disk of 250GB, each desktop gets up to 16 CPU threads, and RAM configurations are customizable.
8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?
- Yes, you can now download recordings by clicking the three small dots on the right side of the video player.
- The video includes audio if you enabled sound in the training room.
9. Which browser should I used for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work flawlessly.
- Browsers like Internet Explorer are not fully supported.
10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?
- First, check your network connection—DaDesktop's performance depends on your local speed.
- Also, check the server location. When the coordinator sets up the desktop, they pick a server close to participants.
- Disable your VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Also, turn off any security software, particularly ones that interfere with WebSockets, which is key for smooth DaDesktop use.
11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network
Remote Desktop access relies on Websocket
- The block may be coming from your device. Look for settings that could block Websocket. For instance, on some Chromebooks, in proxy settings, if the option 'Use the same proxy for all protocols' is checked, Websocket stops working (because it assigns a proxy to the 'SOCKS host'). Uncheck it, leave 'SOCKS host' empty, and that should solve the problem.
- Alternatively, the issue might be on the network side, not your device. In that case, contact your network administrator and ask them to unblock Websocket.
12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?
- Take a look at this GPU page for details on GPU support.
13. Is there any potential issues or answers?
- Generally, using DaDesktop is just like working on a regular Windows or Linux machine. However, a few minor issues can occasionally appear with certain software in a training context, especially when cloning machines.
14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?
- No, we don't offer support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, mainly because of licensing complications.
