DaDesktop

Bare Metal PC Lab

In addition to cloud-based options, DaDesktop also gives you direct access to physical bare-metal desktops or servers.

Ideal for scenarios where each participant gets their own dedicated machine, this approach has proven useful when learners need:

  1. full server hardware without any virtualization layer, to meet performance demands or licensing constraints (e.g., ONAP, OpenStack)
  2. access to hardware components that aren't virtualization-friendly, such as certain GPUs, Mellanox cards when firmware modification is part of the training, and other network devices.

What's more, this solution can be integrated into an existing physical classroom Germany with minimal adjustments. Trainers can then set up the room remotely, eliminating any need to be physically on site.

The same Cloud Desktop environment you operate in the cloud can be deployed directly onto participants' physical hardware.

Requirement for onsite deployment

Implementing this locally requires purchasing a ddnexus control cable for each desktop, at around $100 USD apiece.

To test it, simply choose Metal PC when setting up a Standalone or Fresh-start desktop.
