This is an annoying problem that rarely appears but depends on the type of physical keyboard, language layout and internationalisation used.

This is a Windows only Issue

This is fixed by doing the following :-

  1. In the Windows search bar, type 'Settings'
  2. Click 'Time & Language'
  3. Click the language menu item on the left hand side
  4. Then under 'Preferred Languages', click on your preferred language, and then 'Options'.
  5. Then, 'Add a keyboard', and select the layout of your chosen keyboard eg US keyboard layout
  6. Delete the old keyboard layouts, by clicking on them and 'Remove'
  7. Test by typing single quotes, ' ' ', quotation marks, ' " ' and inverted quote marks `.
